Georgia Fine and Collectible Book Fair

September 28 and 29, 2013



This year The 21st Annual Georgia Fine and Collectible Book Fair will be held September 28-29, 2013 at the Cobb County Civic Center, Marietta, Georgia.

We hope that you will be an exhibitor this year. If so, please send your $100 deposit right away to Jim Strawn, 1200 Dunwoody Walk, and Dunwoody, GA 30338. The Registration Form below should be completed and returned by August 15, 2013.


The Cobb County Civic Center is located at 548 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060, just two miles west of Interstate 75. Marietta is located just 20 miles northwest of the heart of downtown Atlanta and offers visitors the charm of a small town along with a stimulating urban environment.

The Book Fair

  • Move in and set up is scheduled for Friday, September 27, from 11:00 am till 5:00 pm. Porters will be available for move in and move out.
  • Fair Hours – Saturday; 10:00 – 5:00 pm; Sunday; 11:00 – 4:00 pm.
  • Saturday and Sunday programs will include Workshops, Panel Discussions and Discovery Day.

The GABA Book Fair group rate is $69 per night and includes a hot buffet breakfast and free Wi-Fi. They are holding 20 rooms with king beds for our group. The Hampton Inn is less than two miles from the Civic Center and is located on I-75 at Exit 263.

Two important points:

  • Rooms will be held until September 21, so and make your reservation before then.
  • When making your reservation, reference The GABA Book Fair for the $69 rate.

Full Booth is $400 and is equipped as follows:

  • 8’ tall back wall drape
  • 3’ tall side rail drape
  • Two 8’ x 24” draped tables
  • Two chairs and one wastebasket
  • One 7” x 44” two-line exhibitor ID sign produced with company, city and booth numbers
  • Two name badges; bags and security seals

Double Booth is $600 and is equipped the same as a full booth plus two 8’ x 24” draped tables.

Shared Booth is $450 and is equipped the same as a full booth plus one extra ID sign and one 6’ x 24” draped table.

Extra Tables - Extra 6’ x 24” draped tables are available for $40.

Electricity - Electrical outlets are available for $25.

The undersigned hereby contracts for exhibition privileges and space at the 21st Annual Georgia Fine and Collectible Book Fair, to be held at the Cobb County Civic Center, Marietta, Georgia, September 28 and 29, 2013.

A deposit of $100 for a booth has been forwarded or is enclosed with this application. Any remaining balance due is payable no later than August 15, 2013. A $50 late fee will be added after this date. In the event that I fail to meet payment when due, I shall automatically forfeit any and all privileges and claims including the forfeit of any payment previously made.

This application request constitutes an offer to be an exhibitor and rent space at the 21sth Annual Georgia Fine and Collectible Book Fair in Marietta, Georgia. It does not become a binding contract until it is accepted by the Georgia Antiquarian Booksellers Association (GABA).

It is understood that Schedule A, Rules Governing the Show, is an important part of this contract.

Schedule A

Rules Governing the Show


· Management shall mean the “Georgia Antiquarian Booksellers Association” (GABA), its members, officers, agents, representatives and assigns.

· Book Fair shall mean the “Georgia Fine and Collectible Book Fair”

· Cobb County Civic Center shall mean the Cobb County Civic Center, its agents, officers, employees, representatives and other assigns.

· Exhibitor shall mean the individual, corporation or other entity which is executing the attached Exhibition contract with Management, including all agents, assigns and representatives of that individual, corporation or other entity.


Exhibitor hereby expressly releases Management and Cobb County Civic Center, from any and all liabilities for damage, loss, injury or other consequences while in the Book Fair. Exhibitor agrees to indemnify Management and Cobb County Civic Center against any claims arising out of or in connection with the use of the space or grounds in the Book Fair. Exhibitor agrees to release Management from any liability for any fees, other than those paid directly to Management in advance.

Neither Management nor Cobb County Civic Center shall be responsible for fire, theft, or other damage, whether caused negligently, willfully or otherwise, and they are expressly released from any and all liabilities for any loss, injury or damage to persons and property.

In the event that Cobb County Civic Center, or any part thereof shall be destroyed or damaged by fire, or other cause, or if by reason of government restriction, the use of said premises or the conducting of the Book Fair is prevented, either before, during or after the Book Fair, then the Exhibitor hereby waives claim for damages or compensation which might arise by reason thereof, except for the return to the Exhibitor or proportionate payments made for the privilege of exhibition by way of the Exhibition Contract to which this Schedule “A” is attached.


Management reserves the right to determine eligibility of any Exhibitor or product to be exhibited at the Book Fair.


Exhibitor shall not assign or sublet this Exhibition Contract, nor any part of same, without the express written permission of Management. If approved by Management, a $50.00 sharing fee will be added to the gross rent for each sharing entity. Each of those sharing will be required to sign a separate formal contract, with which the $50.00 sharing fee is prepaid, along with a proportionate share of booth deposit.


Exhibitor shall be required to pay a $100.00 deposit with the execution of the attached Exhibition Contract, and must pay the remaining balance by August 1, 2013. Further, the Exhibitor agrees to comply with all stipulations contained in this Schedule “A” and in the attached Exhibition Contract. Failure to do so will result in loss of payments (as stipulated in paragraph 2 of the Exhibition Contract), ejection from the Book Fair, or barring from future Book Fairs, entirely at the discretion of Management.

In the event that Exhibitor should find it necessary to cancel this contract, Management must receive written notice by certified mail at least THIRTY (30) days prior to the start of the Book Fair. If, in the opinion of Management, reason for the cancellation is valid, all money received as of the date of the notification will be refunded. If Exhibitor fails to give proper notice as stated above, Exhibitor shall forfeit any payments made, as well as being held liable for the balance due.

Exhibitor must maintain his/her booth for the duration of the Book Fair. This means stocking the booth with appropriate merchandise and being there to sell the merchandise. Failure to do so, or early packing or dismantling of the booth, will result in barring from future Book Fairs.

Exhibitor may not distribute or sell food or beverages. Exhibitor shall place all merchandise for sale or display, either on Management furnished tables, or in book cases, or use other appropriate display accessories that are Management approved, which shall not include cardboard or plastic boxes. All merchandise and display units must be totally contained within the assigned booth perimeter. Exhibitor may not place merchandise for display or sale in the traffic aisles. Such aisles usually begin at the front table edges and/or outside table edge for corner booths. Thus, shelves, easels, posters, etc., may not be placed forward of a table end, or forward from the back drape or wall any more than 10 feet. In corner booths, the outside table in a corner booth may be moved inward, narrowing the floor space to make room for shelves outside the table. Exhibitor may place chairs in the aisle but they must be immediately adjacent to the booth and not be used to display merchandise.


Management reserves the right to remove any Exhibitor who performs an act, which in Management’s opinion, detracts from the Book Fair, or which is objectionable or unethical.

Management reserves the right to order withdrawal from display or sale, any item in an Exhibitor’s booth which it deems unsuitable or inappropriate for display or sale.

Management reserves the right to alter the location of an Exhibitor as indicated in the official floor plan.

All admission policies will be under exclusive control of Management.

Management shall retain exclusive control of all admission policies. Exhibitor will not be permitted to enter the Book Fair more than one (1) hour prior to its scheduled opening each day. Exhibitor shall not be allowed to remain in the Book Fair area after closing each night, except on Sunday, September 23, 2013, for the purpose of packing up. Exhibitor must wear identification badges during setup, the hours of the show and for admittance to the show.

Management shall reserve the right to make such rules and regulations, from time to time as it deems proper and may amend same at any time.

Management reserves the right to utilize such space and time as it deems advisable, for, but not limited to, the exhibition of works of art, auctions, education displays, and public service booths.

Management reserves the right to eject any Exhibitor from the Book Fair, without refund, for failure to comply with any stipulation or obligations recited within this Schedule “A”, or within the attached Exhibition Contract.
